What Are Eye Floaters and Flashes?

Eye floaters are like tiny specks or cobweb-like shapes that you might notice floating around in your vision. They occur when small particles in the clear gel inside your eye become visible.

Flashes, on the other hand, are sudden bursts of brightness. They can happen when the gel inside your eye, which is normally connected to the back of your eye, starts to pull away. This tugging can create flashes of light.

Risk Factors for Floaters and Flashes

While these factors can play a role, it’s essential to remember that floaters and flashes are often part of the normal aging process.

Get Relief From Floaters and Flashes

While some floaters and flashes are harmless, more pronounced symptoms can impact your eye health. The good news is that effective treatment options are available to enhance your visual comfort.

One potential solution is a vitrectomy in situations where eye floaters significantly disrupt your vision. This surgical procedure involves the removal of the vitreous, the clear gel-like substance inside your eye. It is then replaced with a solution to maintain your eye’s shape, and over time, your body naturally restores this with its own vitreous fluid. Alternatively, there’s laser therapy, a procedure in which precise lasers are directed at the eye floaters, effectively breaking them up and reducing their presence.

Our specialists will assess your case and guide you on the most suitable treatment option, ensuring visual clarity and overall eye health.
